About us

'Properly British' Maude and Fox has been established since 2012.

Maude & Fox studio

Aims

The aim of Maude and Fox is to use the traditional material of British tweed to create classic designs with a contemporary edge that will survive the test of time. As Maude and Fox is continually evolving and never sitting still our extremely loyal customers return again and again to see what’s new.

History

Sue at the helm of the company had neck surgery in 2011 and had a break from her usual career as a Landscape Architect so threw herself into what has now become an established and recognisable British brand.

After seeing a gap in country clothing that often looked like identi kits - the same garments on a lady or gent - Maude and Fox started with 2 collections - a ‘Country Pursuits ‘ collection including names such as The Falconer, The Farrier and The Gamekeeper and The Patriot range in response to the British pride at holding the Olympics. These collections have been edited over the years and new urban country chic items added including the newest Stripe range.

We’ve had our ups and downs one being the theft of all of our stock from our little HQ in Dorset including our design prototypes! We survived with the help of our amazing customers who lent us some of their Maude and Fox clothes to set up stand at The British Shooting Show and take orders. It actually represented a turning point in our business.

"I'm too poor to buy twice" said a lovely gent at the recent Great Yorkshire Show and "you need to be putting your prices up love!" this was a comment on the high quality of our clothing, something we are extremely proud of and strive to maintain. Positioned between high fashion and casual wear, Sue with her team is striving to always create clothing that is practical with plenty of British slightly eccentric flair with a focus on attention to detail.

What next?

Maude and Fox shall continue to use its established place in the tweed clothing market to create assured really genuine British made garments. We shall carry on pushing the boundaries with our innate knowledge of what works. Our customers are our research and development department and we view all our customers as friends in our journey.
